A resident of St. Mary Parish for over 26 years, Dr. Abel is a native of New York State. He received his undergraduate training at Florida State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree. A Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and his medical degree were obtained at Virginia Commonwealth University/ Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. His post-graduate training includes internship, residency and a cardiology fellowship at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.
